Modern automotive paint is a multi-layer system about as thick as a sticky note. Detailing works on the top two layers — and adds one more for protection.

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer (SiO₂-based) that chemically bonds with your clear coat and cures into a hard, glass-like sacrificial layer. It doesn't make paint bulletproof — it makes it hydrophobic (water beads and rolls off, carrying dirt with it), UV-resistant (huge in the Arizona sun), and slick, so contaminants like bugs, bird droppings and brake dust don't bond as easily. Washes get faster and safer, and gloss gets noticeably deeper.
Paint correction is billed at $85 per hour because no two paint jobs need the same amount of work. Light wash swirls on a well-kept daily driver may polish out in a couple of hours; deeper scratches, heavy oxidation, or show-car-flawless goals take longer. You only pay for the correction your paint actually needs — and it pairs perfectly with a ceramic coating to lock in the results.
East Valley summers regularly bake panel surfaces past 160°F. UV breaks down unprotected clear coat, fades trim, and cooks water spots into etching within hours. A ceramic coating adds a UV-resistant barrier and makes hard-water spots far easier to remove — in Arizona it's less a luxury and more preventative maintenance.
Use the two-bucket hand-wash method or a touchless wash — avoid automatic brush tunnels, which install the very swirls we removed. Wash every 2–3 weeks, don't let bird droppings sit, and dry with a clean microfiber. Coated cars: a maintenance wash keeps the hydrophobics sharp, and we can inspect the coating at any follow-up visit.
